Run #2743 by Toto Lady at Charlie Market
Run Report
Clouds rolled in like they knew it was Hash day — cool, shady, and perfect weather to pretend we enjoy suffering. With a chunk of the kennel off gallivanting at Interhash in Jogja, the rest of us loyal, underpaid hill goats still managed a solid turnout. GM called circle sharp at 5.30pm, and after bunny briefing, we were unleashed from the staircase like the usual ritual sacrifice.
Usually, this trail takes us past the cemetery before guiding us uphill the familiar, more “civilised” way, but this time the run setter surprised us with a refreshing change. The paper led us into a side jungle path beside the cemetery — a less-travelled trail with natural leafy cover overhead and patches of mud that kept everyone alert on their footing, while the slippery roots and quiet surroundings added a touch of adventure and made us appreciate the effort put into creating a slightly more challenging and memorable route.
The climb up toward Mount Olivia was no joke. A proper thigh-burning, dignity-stealing ascent that separated the mountain goats from the WhatsApp hikers. Just when lungs were filing for resignation letters, the paper rewarded us with a long downhill glide all the way back to runsite. 3.25 km may sound innocent on paper, but that 355 m elevation said, “you will sweat today whether you like it or not.”
Back at Charlie Market, bunny redeemed all member with a good dinner. Famous chicken rice appeared like a holy offering, followed by homemade butter cake that magically erased all tiredness from 20 minutes earlier. Circle was reconvened, GM reminded everyone to keep Hash spirit alive and show up for invitation runs, and several well-deserved down-downs were dispensed — mainly to appreciate bunny for not killing us outright. Next week run at Waterfall Big Car Park, see you all there!
